The Great Wall Youth Orchestra is in partnership with Laney College to host our rehearsals and offer our students college credit. Students must enroll and have an account with Laney to receive college credit and to participate in the orchestra. Please read the instructions below closely.

Step 1. Register with Peralta/Laney College. This step is for NEW students only.
Go to : https://www.peralta.edu/admissions/apply-enroll
Click on “Laney College” which will take you to the California Community Colleges portal. Follow the instructions to create an account.
You do NOT need to enroll with Campus Solutions.
Please record your student ID that Peralta Colleges assigns you. You will need it for the next step.
Step 2. Complete the special (concurrent) enrollment form below.
Fill out the PDF form corresponding to your student’s grade. Enter the student ID assigned by Peralta Colleges when asked on the form.
Elementary and Middle School Special Enrollment K-8 (2 pages)
High School Special Enrollment 9-12
Special enrollment forms must be signed and returned to Victor Siu (vsiu@peralta.edu) by January 12, 2024.
We will not accept forms not received as a PDF.
Step 3. Register with the Purple Silk Music Education Foundation (PSMEF)

Step 4: Submit registration fee for Purple Silk Music Education Foundation in person
To join the Great Wall Youth Orchestra, we collect a modest registration fee as indicated below. If you are unable to complete the registration fee, please contact info@purplesilk.org and we can find alternatives for you.
Oakland Resident：New Student $300 | Returning Student $250
Non Oakland Resident：New Student $400 | Returning Student $300
